  72. ===============  HOW  MUCH  DOES  IT  COST?   =============

  74. It costs you NOTHING TO JOIN, only long distance if u do not
  75. have a local hub in your area.
  76.  
  77. Netmail, is a 'commitment' that only YOU can decide.  YOU pay
  78. nothing to UsNetMail for the messages you receive, and nothing
  79. for the messages you and your users put into the network in the
  80. various conferences.
  81.  
  82. As the SysOp, YOU must decide IF you can afford to take on
  83. netmail.  The costs for netmail are incurred by Long-Distance
  84. charges on your phone bill.  It requires a commitment on your 
  85. part to anticipate and be prepared for an average monthly
  86. expense.  If you are using a controlled cost long-distance plan,
  87. like AT&T Reach Out, or another plan where your cost is held to
  88. a flat rate of like 10-cents per minute, your monthly cost in
  89. long distance will be somewhere between $3 to $6 per month.  This
  90. depends on where you hub from.  The way the National HUB keeps
  91. your online-time to a minimun during mail calls, is by pre-scanning
  92. your mail packet before you call in, thus you do not spend time
  93. online while the system scans the mail and prepares your message
  94. packet for download.

  96. IF YOU CAN CONNECT TO A UsNetMail HUB WITH A LOCAL CALL, IT
  97. COSTS YOU NOTHING!

  99. An average mail run takes only 1-2 minutes per night. 
  100. If you do not think that YOU can afford this, then RIGHT NOW 
  101. you should NOT consider having any kind of netmail available 
  102. for your BBS callers at this time!

  105. IF LONG-DISTANCE COSTS ARE A MAJOR CONSIDERATION FOR YOU.

  109. ===============  Who does UsNetMail want Most?  =============
  110.  
  111. UsNetMail has alway had pride in its membership, and their users,
  112. and moreover, pride of having a relaxed 'laid-back' atmosphere.

  114. SysOps, and other callers are not expected to 'war-lord' the
  115. conferences, and when an off-topic message appears in a 
  116. conference, JUST LET IT SLIDE.  It causes nothing but problems
  117. when other callers try to 'jump' on those who may have just
  118. made a small mistake in posting a message.

  120. The 'WAR-LORD' APPROACH does NOTHING to promote a friendly
  121. environment to enjoy and learn in.  UsNetMail WILL NOT
  122. accomodate this type of message activity.  This is very 
  123. important for YOU and YOUR USERS to know about!

  129. and relaxed atmosphere where you can become a part of a
  130. group of other BBS callers who rely on UsNetMail for the

  135. gets up on the 'right' side of the bed each day, and we must
  136. understand this when we are using such a vast network.

  144. that the other networks just dont.

  146. UsNetMail has the most informative and powerful NetWork Reporting
  147. system....BAR NONE....of any Network in the World.

  149. Monthly you will receive an ADMINISTRATIVE REPORT of all conferences
  150. and their traffic levels.

  152. PERIODIC CONFERENCE IDENTIFICATION-- UsNetMail National HUB system
  153. automatically generates (periodically) a conference ID message 
  154. which has the name of the conference, and its basic description.
  155. This helps YOU to be sure conferences are configured properly, and
  156. helps your callers feel more at home with reference to the 
  157. conference topic and its use.

  159. NETWORK USER REPORT -- This is a report listing each user on the
  160. network.  Ordered first by the system they access (your net-id)
  161. and then by name, number of messages they entered, and in how
  162. many conferences.  Excellent Statistics!

  164. 100% AUTOMATED NETWORK NODE INFORMATION SYSTEM --  Our unique
  165. node information system is a MESSAGE BASE oriented system that
  166. YOU control right from your board.  It also automatically posts
  167. a BBSad for you, in the BBSads confernece once monthly!  No other
  168. network offers you this type of exposure.  You will literally get
  169. calls from all over the country!

  175. ================  WHAT DO I DO TO JOIN UsNetMail? ===============
  176.  
  177.                      That part is VERY easy.
  178.  
  179. FIRST, you must join the UsNetMail Network, by calling the
  180. UsNetMail WORLD HUB at (USA) 813-977-5600.  This is a US Robotics
  181. 28.8 V34 modem, regardless of your connect speed, it should only
  182. take you about 4-minutes to complete member questionaire.
  183.  
  184. THEN, download according to your BBS system type the needed mail
  185. tosser files.
  186.  
  187. DECIDE where you will want to call to exchange your mail.  
  188. In this packet are files with the extension of .HUB  Find a HUB
  189. in a location that is best for you.
  190.  
  191. NOTIFY the HUB you want to call for mail, (Follow the HUBs 
  192. instructions.) You may additionally be assigned a specific time
  193. to make your mail-runs.
  194.  
  195. The HUB sysop will then wait for a notification message in the 
  196. UsAdmin Conference that you have joined the network.  
  197. (This could take up to a few days)
  198.  
  199. ================= REQUIRED NODE INFORMATION SYSTEM ============
  200.  
  201. UsNetMail REQUIRES you to have your Network-ID on your tagline.
  202.  
  203. This NETWORK-ID is assigned through the UsAdmin conference, 
  204. using a message to our automated network-id system, with a 
  205. special subject line.  This triggers the system to know that
  206. the message is for the network-id system, and it will then
  207. read the message for certain criteria to update your systems
  208. information in its database.
  209.  
  210. Oh, you only send it in with 'NEW' as your node-id ONCE, 
  211. it will then send u a message of the current information for
  212. your system, and will contain YOUR node-id (NETWORK-ID).
  213. Once u have a node-id, u use your real node-id when sending
  214. in updates!

  216. Here is a sample message, which would be sent ONLY in the UsAdmin
  217. conference, and must be in this Exact format.

  251. Ok, from this information above, a node list is generated, and
  252. a monthly BBSad is generated with the d-1 thru d-4 lines.

  254. Your messages from your board (identified by your network-id #
  255. in your tagline) are counted and placed in reports that are 
  256. generated and sent to you.

  258. As for the Modem types, these should be used;

  272. Be VERY aware of the telephone formats, as no other will work,
  273. it must be ###-###-#### or it will get chopped off.

  275. Oh, and because of the nature of the information which the 
  276. UsAdmin conference carries, NO ONE EXCEPT UsNetMail SYSOPS
  277. ARE ALLOW IN THE UsAdmin CONFERENCE!!!!! NO EXCEPTIONS!!

  281. ================= WHAT PROGRAMS DO YOU NEED?  =================

  288. The above are used to insert and extract messages in/out of
  289. your BBS system's message bases.

  291. You must also have some way to call and exchange mail.  Your
  292. current modem communications program (Telemate, Qmodem, etc) and
  293. an appropriate script. OR use ROBOCOMM v4.2 which is the
  294. program 'of choice' to carry out the exchanging of mail packets.
  295. RoboComm is usually found under the file names ROBO42-A.ZIP &
  296. ROBO42-B.ZIP, which you should be able to find locally.

  312. READ THE FILE  CONFLIST.TXT which contains a complete listing
  313. of the conferences, and their descriptions.  The number at the
  314. end of each conference description is the conference number
  315. at the UsNetMail World HUB in Tampa, Florida.  Other
  316. hubs will have different number.
